la PRISIÓN de JERICÓ en CISJORDANIA.
Manifestaciones callejeras, atentados y secuestros de ciudadanos
occidentales en protesta por  la acción militar israelí.

- Los líderes del FPLP que se hallaban en la prisión de Jericó, entre ellos su máximo dirigente Ahmed Saadat, se han rendido a las fuerzas israelíes.

- En el asalto han muerto al menos dos palestinos, un guardián y un preso palestino

- Según un acuerdo entre  las autoridades palestinas e israelíes, Saadat así como los otros detenidos estaban custodiados bajo responsabilidad internacional de los Estados unidos y de Gran bretaña

- Según Toufic Abou Khoussa, el portavoz del ministro palestino del interior, los americanos y los británicos dejaron la prisión 15 minutos antes de iniciarse la operación. Los israelíes pidieron a las fuerzas de seguridad rendir sus armas y no resistir . Si se negaban bombardearían el recinto. Dieron un ultimátum a los presos: "Entregaos o moriréis".

- Ciudadanos palestinos se manifiestan en las calles rechazando el asalto a la prisión.

- Varios comandos guerrilleros asaltan centros de países occidentales y de la Unión Europea además de secuestrar a cooperantes internacionales y profesores extranjeros como protesta.

- Los monitores de la Unión Europea encargados del paso fronterizo entre Gaza y Egipto se han retirado de sus puestos de vigilancia ante la “falta de seguridad”.

- Campañas de protesta se han puesto en marcha hoy mismo en Gran Bretaña, Francia y USA organizadas por ONG solidarias con el pueblo palestino.

EL EJERCITO ISRAELÍ, ASALTA LA PRISIÓN DE JERICÓ EN CISJORDANIA.
 

Las fuerzas israelíes han  cercado hoy martes 14 de marzo de 2006 la prisión de Jericó en Cisjordania exigiendo la rendición de seis detenidos palestinos, como Ahmed Saadat encarcelado en la prisión de Jericó acusado de ser el autor intelectual del atentado que costó la vida a un ministro israelí, Rejabam Zeevi, en 2001. Saadat es el máximo dirigente del Frente Popular para la Liberación de Palestina (F.P.L.P.). Otros cuatro miembros del F.P.L.P estaban igualmente detenidos en esta prisión y también eran el objetivo del asalto de los militares israelíes. otro preso de los buscados es Fuad Shobaki, responsable de al-Fatah  acusado por Israel de fletar un barco, el Karim-a, con armas para los organismos palestinos de seguridad, con destino a Gaza y que fue detectado por la fuerza naval israelí en el mar rojo en 2001, al principio de la segunda Intifada.

Según un acuerdo entre  palestinos e israelíes, saadat así como los otros detenidos estaban custodiados bajo responsabilidad internacional de los estados unidos y de gran bretaña..

Los guardias británicos y los americanos habían abandonado el edificio un poco antes  lo que confirmaría una operación concertada.

El edificio penitenciario fue cercado por blindados y varias decenas de jeeps mientras dos helicópteros sobrevolaban el lugar.

La operación “ha sido lanzada después que se hiciera publico el proyecto de Mahmoud abbas de liberar a Ahmed Saadat y a sus cómplices, según la radio israelí.”

Un palestino, miembro de las fuerzas de seguridad de la presión, Abou al Amine, ha sido  abatido a balazos durante la operación así como uno de los presos. Otros 18 palestinos fueron heridos.

Los militares llamaron por megáfonos a los detenidos a rendirse..  los “bulldozers” del ejercito han comenzado a demoler los muros del complejo donde se encuentra la presión.

El F.P.L.P.  alerta  a Israel contra el asesinato de Ahmed Saadat.

El frente popular de liberación de Palestina (F.P.L.P) alerta   a Israel este martes contra el asesinato de su jefe Ahmed Saadat , detenido en la presión de Jericó en Cisjordania, donde el ejercito israelita h a lanzado un vasto operativo militar.

 Israel debe asumir  toda la responsabilidad de sus actos y la respuesta del F.P.L.P, será dura si Israel procede al asesinato de su secretario general, ha afirmado  damas Mahr Taher, miembro del buró político de la organización Palestina.

Israel debe saber que el F.P.L.P. responderá con fuerza a sus crímenes y a sus agresiones, ha manifestado M. Taher  representante del F.P.L.P en Siria.

Ha lanzado un llamamiento a la Liga Árabe para que actúe inmediatamente, al secretario general de la ONU., Kofi Annan para que impida  el asesinato y al presidente de la Autoridad Nacional Palestina  Mahmoud Abbas para que actúe inmediatamente con los países árabes y del resto el Mundo a fin de preservar la vida de Ahmed Saadat.

Damas Mahr Taher ha llamado igualmente a actuar a las masas palestinas del interior (es decir, de los territorios ocupados) .

El presidente de la Autoridad Nacional Palestina, Mahmoud Abbas, actualmente en Europa , ha condenado la operación israelí en un comunicado: “hacemos responsables a los guardias americanos y británicos que tuvieron la responsabilidad de custodiar a los prisioneros. los hacemos enteramente responsables de todas las amenazas contra Ahmed Saadat y de Fouad Choubaki ( un responsable de AL-Fatah) y sus compañeros.”

El asalto israelí a la prisión de Jericó ha provocado como respuesta protestas callejeras y  una serie de secuestros, tiroteos y atentados incendiarios en los territorios palestinos ocupados : tres franceses  fueron capturados por militantes del F.P.L.P. , un profesor  estadounidense de la universidad árabe de Jenín  consiguió escapar a sus captores, también ha sido secuestrado el director de la cruz roja internacional en Gaza , dos profesores australianos y un cooperante coreano . el consulado británico ha sido tiroteado, y un centro cultural del reino unido incendiado. los monitores de la unión europea encargados del paso fronterizo de Rafah entre Gaza y Egipto se retiran de sus puestos de vigilancia ante la “falta de seguridad
 

Por último también el primer ministro palestino Ismael Anille , jefe de filas de HAMAS ,  ha  alertado contra cualquier atentado a la vida de  Saadat.

Les forces israéliennes ont encerclé mardi 14 mars la prison de Jéricho en Cisjordanie et exigent la reddition de six détenus palestiniens dont Ahmed Saadat, incarcéré dans la prison de Jéricho pour son implication dans l¹assassinat d¹un ministre israélien en 2001. Saadat était le chef du Front
populaire de libération de la Palestine (FPLP). Quatre autres membres du
FPLP sont également détenus dans cette prison.

Selon un accord conclu entre Israéliens et Palestiniens, Saadat ainsi que
ces autres détenus sont placés sous la responsabilité internationale des
Etats-Unis et de la Grande-Bretagne.

Selon des déclarations de responsables palestiniens, les gardiens
britanniques et américains avaient quitté l¹établissement un peu plus tôt
dans la journée ce qui confirme une opération concertée.

Le bâtiment pénitentiaire est encerclé par des blindés et plusieurs dizaines
de jeeps tandis que deux hélicoptères survolent le site.

L¹opération a été lancée à la suite d¹informations faisant état du projet de
Mahmoud Abbas de libérer Ahmad Saadat et ses complices, selon la radio
israélienne.

Un Palestinien, un membre des services de sécurité de la prison, Abou
Al-Amine, a été tué par balles dans l¹opération, a-t-on appris de source
sécuritaire palestinienne. Dix-huit autres Palestiniens ont été blessés.

Les militaires ont appelé par haut-parleurs les détenus palestiniens à se
rendre. Des bulldozers de l¹armée ont commencé à démolir les murs d¹enceinte

Le FPLP met en garde Israël contre "l¹assassinat" d¹Ahmad Saadat

Le Front populaire de libération de la Palestine (FPLP) a mis en garde
Israël mardi contre "l¹assassinat" de son chef Ahmad Saadat, détenu dans la
prison de Jéricho en Cisjordanie, où l¹armée israélienne a lancé une vaste
opération militaire.

"Israël assume la totale responsabilité de ses actes, et la riposte du FPLP
sera dure si Israël procède à l¹assassinat de son secrétaire général", a
affirmé à l¹AFP à Damas Maher Taher, membre du bureau politique de
l¹organisation palestinienne.

"Israël doit savoir que le FPLP ripostera avec force à ses crimes et à ses
agressions", a poursuivi M. Taher, représentant du FPLP en Syrie.

Il a lancé en outre lancé des appels à la Ligue arabe "pour qu¹elle agisse
immédiatement", au secrétaire général de l¹Onu Kofi Annan pour "empêcher le
crime de l¹assassinat" et au chef de l¹Autorité palestinienne Mahmoud Abbas
pour qu¹il "agisse immédiatement avec les parties arabes et internationales
afin de préserver la vie d¹Ahmad Saadat".

M. Taher a appelé également "les masses palestiniennes à l¹intérieur (des
territoires palestiniens occupés) à agir".

Le président de l¹Autorité palestinienne Mahmoud Abbas, actuellement en
Europe, a condamné l¹opération israélienne dans un communiqué : "Nous tenons
pour responsables les gardiens américains et britanniques qui avaient pris
la responsabilité de garder les prisonniers. Nous les tenons entièrement
responsables pour toutes menaces contre Ahmad Saadat et de Fouad Choubaki
(un responsable du Fatah) et leurs collègues".

Selon Toufic Abou Khoussa, le porte-parole du ministère palestinien de
l¹Intérieur, "les Américains et les Britanniques ont quitté la prison 15
minutes avant le début de l¹opération. Les Israéliens ont demandé aux forces
de sécurité de baisser leurs armes et de ne pas résister. S¹ils refusent,
ils ont dit qu¹ils bombarderaient l¹enceinte".

Le Premier ministre palestinien Ismaïl Haniyeh, chef de file du Hamas, a mis
en garde contre toute "atteinte à la vie" de M. Saadat.

Chers tous et toutes,

En ces moments il se déroule encore une violation grave et brutale du
droit par Israel. Informez vous le plus vite possibele sur ce qui se passe
en ce moment à Jericho au tour du prison dans lequel sont encarcerés des
ativistes du FPLP, don't leur leader, Ahmad Saadat - sans aucune procedure
juridique valide. Des forces israeliennes sont en train d'attaquer le prison
qui a été quitté par les responsables américains et britanniques. Il y a
déjà des blessés et un mort.
Pensons sur des moyens de protest, des forms d'intervention pour sauver la
vie des militants de la FPLP et pour stopper cette action drutale des FDI,
cette violation flagtante du droit.

Hi everyone - For those who haven't heard yet about the dire situation unfolding in Jericho --
 it may have already ended, this information is from a couple of hours ago. The u.S. and British guards abandoned the Jericho prison where Ahmed Saadat and other PFLP prisoners, plus about 195 other prisoners, are being held by the PA according to the 2002 Ramallah Agreement.  They moved out just before the IDF invaded, with helicopters and tanks, including bulldozers, called on the prisoners to surrender and saying they will be killed if they don't surrender. The goal appeared to be to move at least Saadat and the other PFLP prisoners to Israeli prisons.

There is clear responsibility by the U.S. and Britain for abandoning their positions.  Below are a couple articles by ECCP (Belgium) and  the statement from the British PSC. They have called an emergency demonstration tonight outside 10 Downing Street.  Here in the U.S. we're just doing a statement now, and are trying to get through to the State Dept.

Israeli troops are storming Jericho prison and demanding surrender of those
inside - saying they will kill anyone that doesn't surrender.

British and US prison wardens who were meant to be guarding and protecting
prisoners including Ahmed Saadat, leader of the Popular Front for the
Liberation of Palestine have withdrawn to allow the Israeli army to storm
the prison. The British government must be urgently contacted to press them
to re-enter the prison and protect those inside. Palestinian president
Mahmoud Abbas has condemned the raid and said the US and UK warders were
responsible for the prisoners' safety. Reports are that already one prison
policeman has been killed and 18 wounded.  '50 jeeps
and three tanks pushed into the oasis town in the Jordan valley, as two
helicopters hovered overhead. The army later brought a large armoured
bulldozer to the prison, which proceeded to demolish walls.'

IDF surrounds Jericho jail holding Ze'evi killers

Israel Defense Forces troops on Tuesday surrounded the prison in the West
Bank city of Jericho where five Palestinian militants are jailed over the
assassination of minister Rehavam Ze'evi in 2001.

IDF sources said the raid was being carried out in order to transfer the
prisoners to an Israeli prison.

The five include Ahmed Saadat, the leader of the Popular Front for
Liberation of Palestine, believed to have been the one who ordered the
killing of Ze'evi in a Jerusalem hotel.

One of the five said Tuesday that the group would not surrender.

"Our prison is surrounded on all sides by Israelis. They are asking us over
loudspeaker to come out," Ahed Abu Ghoulmi, one of the targeted prisoners,
told The Associated Press by telephone. "We will not come out under any
circumstances."

An IDF colonel told reporters that the main objective is to arrest those at
the prison.

"The objective is to arrest them, but there are no negotiations. Either they
come out or they will be killed," the colonel said.

He said that of 200 people inside, 44 have surrendered so far. He said the
main targets of the raid, including those involved in the assassination of
an Israeli Cabinet minister in 2001, have not yet come out.

The IDF troops were also demanding the surrender of Fuad Shobaki, the
alleged mastermind of an illegal weapons shipment to the Palestinian
Authority in 2002.

Dozens of prisoners in their underwear came of the prison building, where
they were being searched and blindfolded by IDF troops. Some of them were
taken away. None of them appeared to be the six targeted men.

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said last week that he was
prepared to free Saadat, drawing an angry response from Israel. Abbas also
said last year that he planned to release Saadat, but did not.

Saadat and the others, also members of the PFLP, have been held in the jail
under international supervision since 2002.

Using a loudspeaker, the troops called on the militants in the jail to come
out and surrender themselves.

Sami Musallam, the governor of Jericho, said Tuesday morning that he had
been told Saadat was still in his cell and that IDF troops were trying to
snatch him.

The IDF troops exchanged limited fire with Palestinian forces at the jail. A
large number of Palestinians gathered outside the prison grounds, some
throwing Molotov cocktails and stones at the IDF troops. Army vehicles at
the scene also came under fire, but no soldiers were hurt.

A senior Palestinian official said that IDF forces had killed a Palestinian
guard in clashes around the prison. A Palestinian security source later said
that a Palestinian prisoner had also been killed.

Tawfiq Tirawi, head of Palestinian intelligence in the West Bank, told
Reuters that IDF bulldozers were trying to tear down the prison walls.

American and British monitors supervising Saadat's detention left the prison
before the arrival of the IDF soldiers.

Abbas later said that the British and American monitors bore "full
responsibility" for the raid.

Khaleda Jarar, a PFLP legislator, said she was on the phone to one of the
inmates, Ahed Abu Ghoulmi, at the time of the IDF operation.

She said Abu Ghoulmi told her all five PFLP prisoners were in their cells
when the troops entered. She said the soldiers called on the prisoners over
loudspeakers to come out of their cells, and that the line with Abu Ghoulmi
was cut at that time.

The PFLP has Marxist roots and opposes peace talks with Israel. The group,
which was at the forefront of air hijackings in the 1960s and 1970s, is part
of Abbas' umbrella Palestine Liberation Organization.

The Israel Prison Service raised its level of alert in prisons containing
Palestinian prisoners Tuesday, fearing riots in the wake of the Jericho
operation.

British Complicity in Israeli Crimes in Jericho Prison

Following the withdrawal of British and US monitors from Jericho prison, the
Palestine Solidarity Campaign has organised an urgent action outside 10
Downing Street from 5.30-6.30 tonight (14 March) to protest against this
withdrawal.

Betty Hunter, PSC General Secretary, said:

'Britain and the US had a responsibility to monitor the prisoners under the
Ramallah Agreement. Jack Straw's statement that he had informed the Israelis
in advance of the British and US withdrawal provided Israel with the
opportunity to storm the prison and threaten to kill anyone who did not
surrender. Israel has already killed one prison officer and wounded 14.
Allowing Israel to storm the prison and kill at random is a shameful act by
the British government.

'Britain's withdrawal from the Jericho prison has left the Palestinians
inside completely at the mercy of the Israeli army. Kim Howells on 8 March
2006 said that "the Ramallah Agreement states that any changes in the status
of the detainees should be agreed between Israel and the Palestinian
Authority." Britain and the US will be held responsible for Israel's
violation of this agreement.'

in these moments we are witnessing another serious and brutal
violation of international law, in fact of any kind of law or justice.
Please get informed about what ist going on in Jericho, where IDF-forces are
attacking the prison with the intention of abducting or killing the
activists of the PFLP, among them their leader Ahmad Saadat, being held
there under international (US and British) supervision and responsibility.
Several palestinians trying to defend the prison have been injures or
killed.
Please think about ways how we can save their lives, of ways to stop this
atrocity, this violation of any form of law or justice.
